Tips for choosing outdoor cushions

One of best ways to improve the value and utility of a home is to add an outdoor space. A converted backyard, patio or porch is a great place to hang out and entertain during the summer months. Most homes have wasted outdoor spaces. Some basic landscaping, wicker furniture, and lighting could transform it into an amazing space.

The type of cushions used should be determined first and foremost by the use of the space. When doing up the patio, don’t limit the purchase to furniture. A great patio cushion can make it a comfortable place to relax. Lounge chairs could use a lot of little throw pillows, while a dining table could use one small cushion per seat.

As these are all outdoor space, the material of the cushions and covers is also an important consideration. They will need to be durable and comfortable at the same time. Usually, this is a compromise. The more durable a fabric is, the less comfortable. There are some that can stand the elements. For example, there are fabrics which can last about two thousand hours of direct sunlight before they start to fade. Once the foam hits end-of-life, a foam replacement can be done.

Finally, the cushions will need to have a color, shape or design that accent the space. We want the space to be comfortable, look great, feel cozy and the cushions play a large part of that.
